Antique Furniture, Collectibles, Movie Posters & Other Ephemera

at the VFW hall located at 190 Main Street, Saugus, MA.

Preview: 3:30pm Day of Sale

For this auction we're combining the estate of a former Wellesley family with a partial estate from Proctor, Vermont and adding in a fantastic collection of vintage movie posters from a drive-in movie theater in Indiana that closed in the 1960s. We're very excited to be offering our finest selection of furnishings as well as a choice collections of smalls and ephemera. 2007 was a great launch year for our business, and we're kicking off 2008 in grand fashion. Come join us and discover more of the treasures we always seem to be uncovering!

We're featuring a fine selection of 19th century furnishings from the Empire and Victorian periods as well as Victorian and Edwardian clothing including several christening gowns, a fabulous Victorian whalebone corset, and several vintage furs. We have a rare 1930s Boy Scout eagle scout sash w/39 Type A merit badges as well as a vintage Girl Scout sash with merit badges and other patches. In addition we’re offering an exceptional collection of vintage movie posters from such movies as L'il Abner, How the West Was Won, and None But the Brave and actors such as Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Joanne Woodward, Anthony Quinn, Doris Day and many more. In all, there will be more than 6 dozen posters, many of which are in remarkable, fresh condition. On top of that, we have some very nice dolls and toys including a Simon & Halbig, a Steiff mohair monkey, and a great little tin litho friction toy with a mohair bear. Our ephemera will include a great collection of 1870s railroad passes, three Platinum Age comic books, a great 1857 Sewing Needle display labeled H. Milward & Sons Patent Helix Needles and children's books including a very rare title The Wonderful Adventures of Mr. Rabbit & Uncle Fox illustrated by Carton Moorepark. The Above listing is a mere fraction of what we'll be selling.

Take a look at our photographs and be sure to preview.

Railraod Passes to be sold by catalog at 6:30pm (Click any image to view full size)

In 1865 Uriah Case gave up his law practice to become the General Ticket Agent for the Hartford, New Haven & Springfield Railroad. In 1873, the H., N.H. & S merged with the New York & New Haven Railroad to form the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. Uriah Case then served as the Assistant Purchasing Agent for the NY, NH & H until 1875 when he returned to his law practice. The tickets and passes in this auction represent mostly free/complimentary annual and bi-annual passes he received to various railroads in the Northeastern United States while in his position as General Ticket Agent.

These tickets will be sold in catalog order beginning at 6:30pm. When all lots have been exhausted, we'll return to the remainder of our merchandise.
